Ever since it came out of production in 1966, the Mazda Bongo has been considered a near perfect van, especially in the event of long distance drives. Traditionally created for the Japanese domestic market, they have been popular enough to be repeatedly exported to UK as per demand.
The Initial Bongo which appeared in two different models, the F800 and the F1000. With its 4-stroke 782cc rear mounted engine, it was considered to be extremely sturdy to take loads up to1000 kg. But it slowly started being obsolete with the advent of the better version, the mid-engine rear wheel drive Bongo, which appeared on the scene in 1978, and was duly exported in three different models, the Bongo E 1300, E 1400 and E 1600. Subsequent years also saw several alterations to this popularly muscular vehicle which came to be known in a variety of names in different countries.
