The under-floor engine design of this Toyota vehicle results in a rather long cabin which in most models, has a capacity of eight adults. Available in both rear wheel and all wheel drives, the first generation of the Previa had a 2.4 litre, 135 hp 4-cylinder fuel injection engine with a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic gear assembly. This saw a slight alteration in its 2000 model, which introduced both petrol and diesel engines in the European market. The petrol engine was powered by a 2.4 litre 2AZ-FE of 156 hp, while the diesel engine had a 2.0 litre 1CD-FTV with 116 hp. A third generation of this vehicle was introduced in the Australian and Japanese markets in 2006, which features a Hybrid Synergy drive.
